Leading the business can be tough. The journey might feel lonely. You cannot share your problems with family, your partner, your employees. You are carrying the mountain, all by yourself. It’s not easy. It has never been. It does not have to be this way. What if you could pause your stress?
1. Reboot
Many thoughts running in your mind. They wear you down. They occupy space. Cause conflict and feel like a burden. You need to find a way to reboot your system. Take a walk, go for a run, cycle a few kilometres. Do any cardio, it helps blood get pumped in all those places where you haven’t paid attention. Especially your brain. It feels refreshed.
2. Disconnect
Unplug yourself, you know what happens to a computer that keeps running continuously? It gets over heated. We need our own down time to cool off.
Quicker we pull the plug, lesser the chances of a burnout.
3. Accept
We all have some or the other problem going on. Solve the problem, there is another. There is always a heap of work that needs to get done , so what?
Does that mean we stop living? No, we learn to live with problems. We are able to do that only when we accept. Side note: acceptance also helps you to solve the problem quickly. You get out of the emotional rut, and focus on the solution.
4. Listen to your Body
Your body knows what you want. If it is asking you to take rest, you are probably stretching it. You deserve some time off, take it. Need to sit down and have a conversation, do it. But my body doesn’t want to do anything, I might just miss out on work? Push where required, pause at other times.
Be kind. You only have yourself, till you see the end.
5. Lesser screen time
Yes, you heard that right. The more information you absorb, tougher it gets for you to put your mind to rest. You have given it more to digest. And even the mind has an appetite. If you eat junk, it’s not going to feel good. Give the mind light food post dinner. Wind up sooner. There is no need to check every thing that comes your way.
Feed your mind with the right nourishment. Give it enough time to recoup and function the next morning. If it feels too tight on thoughts, disconnect and reboot. Your body will know the way. Listen and Live.
